Applications

Sealants
Polybutene addition attributes to modification of properties like
  • Tack, Softness, Bond strength, Cohesive strength and Water resistance of adhesives KVIS polyisobutylenes are most widely used in sealants and putty formulations as an effective replacement for the drying oils.
The polybutene can impart the following properties to the sealants
  • Permanence
  • Improved adhesion and cohesion and
  • Ageing
  • Less shrinkage
  • Lower oil-to-filler ratios
KVIS polyisobutylenes act as a plasticizer and it adds tack to elastomer-based sealants. When polyisobutylene is added to Clear Sealants it imparts outstanding peel adhesion and good ageing characteristics.
Stretch / Cling Wrap
Polybutene offers excellent cling properties to the film when added to LLDPE. Polybutene can be added to the production of LLDPE film either by way of
  • LLDPE / PIB masterbatches or
  • Direct addition to the LLDPE during the film extrusion process
The major areas of application for tackified LLDPE are pallet stretch wrap and bale silage wrap. The films made by incorporating polybutene exhibit good clarity, durability and cling properties.
Lubricants
KVIS 30 finds its application in PIBSA-Polyisobutylene Succinic Anhydride as a dispersant and performance package in lubricant segment.
